Basic Blackjack Strategy
The basic blackjack strategy chart covers three types of a player’s starting hands: Hard hands, Soft hands and Pairs. As we mentioned before, in a standard game, one of the dealer’s cards is face up. In a single deck of cards there are 52 cards, which 16 of them have a value of ten. So, at tables with multiple decks, there are many “ten value” cards. Therefore, when applying our strategy, we assume that the dealer’s second card is a ten. By following the chart, we can know how to play our hands in every situation.
Sixteen is the trickiest hand to play, because it has a psychological effect on our decision making. Anything over five will cause us to bust, so do we take another card or not? Therefore, we advise you to follow the chart. As we mentioned before, there are 16 “Ten value” cards in a single deck of cards. However, there are the same amount, of cards under Six. So, don’t worry about busting out. If the chart tells you to take another card, then HIT. When playing different types of hands there are a few rules of thumb.
Hard Hands
– If you hold 17 or above then STAND.
– When holding 8-16 and the dealer has 7-A, HIT, except for certain situations when you’re holding 9-11.
– If the dealer is holding optimal cards for us, we will choose to DOUBLE DOWN and maximize our winnings.
– When the dealer shows 4-6 you should usually STAND, since the chances of him busting are high.
Soft Hands
– If you hold 19 then STAND.
– When a dealer holds 7-A and you hold 13-18, you always HIT.
– When the dealer shows 4-6 you should usually DOUBLE DOWN, because we have a high chance of winning the hand.
Pairs
Playing with pairs is very straight forward. The main question is, if you should split them or not. Of course, seeing what the dealer has makes our decision easier.
– Never split Tens and always split Eights. When holding Tens always STAND.
– Always consider “Fives” as a “Ten”. Play “Fives” like “hard hands”.
– You always HIT with Fours and never split them.
– If the casino allows you to, you should always split aces. However, if a Ten lands it will only count as 21 and not a Blackjack. In most casinos, splitting aces will only grant you one card for each ace.
Advanced strategies such as card counting are harder to apply online. Firstly, it’s hard to find information about how many decks are in the shoe. Secondly, most of the blackjack games are single player versions. We only really recommend trying to apply advanced strategies on live casino blackjack games. If you are still interested in learning some advanced strategies, then send us a message and we’ll try to add it in the future.
Now that you’ve learnt the basic blackjack strategy, it’s time for you to practice. Many online casinos let you play their games for free. So, find a Bitcoin casino that suits you and start playing blackjack. If you apply our blackjack strategy correctly then you’ll be winning in no time.
