How to Play Roulette
Before we explain all of the many different bet types, let's start with how roulette works. Each roulette table features a board with red, green and black boxes, numbered 0-36, and many other betting boxes, which we'll explain in a bit. A croupier spins the wheel and rolls a ball, while players start placing their bets. As soon as the ball lands, the croupier marks the number, the ball landed on, and only the winning bets are paid out. The wheel is spun again and a new round of betting commences.
If you thought that roulette was all about predicting numbers then you'll be surprised how much more there is to it. Besides betting on numbers, you can place many other bets that can multiply your winnings.
Betting Options
Besides betting on numbers, there are many other betting options to keep the players entertained. Placing additional bets together with your number choices can yield some big wins.
A roulette table is split into two sections: the numbers grid (inside) and everything around the numbers grid (outside). Roulette bets can be put into 2 main categories: Inside bets and Outsides bets. Before you start playing at a table, always check what the bet limits are for inside and outside bets.
Inside Bets
If you place a bet within the numbers grid, then you're betting inside. Several inside, betting options exist:
Straight Up
Place a bet on any number that you think the ball will land on. Odds of winning are low, so they payout is 35:1. If you bet 0.1 BTC, then you'll be paid out 3.5 BTC. So, the reward is worth the risk.
Split
If you place a bet between two adjacent numbers then if any numbers lands, your bet wins. Split bets payout of 17:1.
Street
A row of three numbers in roulette, is called a Street. Placing a street bet, means that you believe that any of the three numbers in that row, will land. Street bets payout at 11:1.
Corner
If you want to make a corner bet, then place a chip in the middle of four adjacent numbers. Corner bets payout at 8:1.
Line
A line bet is similar to a street bet, except it covers two adjacent rows. If a street bet pays out at 11:1 for one row then a line bet pays out at 5:1.
Basket/Five number bet
Basket bets are available in European an American roulette. You need to place on the following set of numbers: 0,1,2,3 or 0,00,1,2,3. Your payout is 6:1.
Snake
Placing chips on the following numbers: 1, 5, 9, 12, 14, 16, 19, 23, 27, 30, 32, and 34, creates a snake-like pattern. Snake bets payout at 2:1.
Outside Bets
If you bet around the numbers grid, then you are betting outside. Casinos have minimum bet amounts for outside bets, that are usually twice the minimum amount of inside bets.
Red/Black
Almost half of the numbers are either red or black. Make a bet on either color and receive an even money payout.
Odd/Even
If you bet on an odd or even number then pad your bets with an odd or even bet. Odd/even bets payout even money.
High/Low
Choose a number between 1-36 and bet accordingly. If you bet on numbers from 1-18 then you are betting "Low". If you bet on numbers from 19-36 then you are betting "High".
Columns
There are three different columns on a roulette table. Each column consists of 12 numbers. Betting on each column yields a 2:1 payout.
Dozens
Similar to columns, dozens cover a selection of 12 numbers too. You can bet on three groups of numbers: 1-12, 13-24, 25-36, and the payout is 2:1.

Tip: Always make sure that your bets work with each other, so that if the right number lands, your winnings will be maximized. For example, if you bet on the number 13 then you could add bets on black, odd, low and column one. If 13 hits then you'll win on all of your bets.
Roulette Games
Three of the most common games are European, French and American Roulette. The difference between European and American is the double zero (00) that appears on American tables.

Voisins du Zero
If you look at the racetrack above the numbers grid, you'll see a zero in the top left corner. The racetrack represents the order in which the numbers appear on the wheel. Voisins du Zero means " neighbors of zero, referring to the 17 numbers from 22 to 25, with zero in the middle.
Jeu Zero
"Zero Game" is a bet placed on the numbers closest to zero: 12, 35, 3, 26,0, 32,15.
Tiers du Cylindre
Place your bet on a third of the wheel. This bet is placed on a set of 12 numbers between 27 and 33, which are located on the other side of the wheel. You place six bets on the following splits: 5/8, 10/11, 13/16, 23/24, 27/30, and 33/36.
Orphelins
Up to now we've covered most of the roulette wheel with different bets. The remaining eight numbers are called the "Orphelins" or "Orphans": 17, 34, 6, 1, 20, 14, 31, and 9.
Neighbors
If you want to bet on a specific number then you can protect your bet, by asking for neighbors. Neighbor bets are placed on a selected number and two numbers to the right and left of it, on the wheel. For example, neighbors of 5 include a bet on 16, 24, 5, 10 and 23.
